With a population of 13,000 residents, Gulfport is home to 1,500 licensed businesses, services, entrepreneurs, inns, artisans, boutiques, restaurants, and shops. The small waterfront town of Gulfport is tucked in between St. Petersburg and St. Pete Beach. It is a place that evokes the welcome of old Florida with yearlong activities, festivals and places to visit. Perched on the beautiful shores of Boca Ciega Bay, Gulfport boasts many awards winning restaurants and unique shopping that particularly showcase the work of local artisans. It also has a professional 170 seat theater, a refurbished 1920’s style Casino Ballroom and dockage to bring your boat in for the day or evening to visit.
Gulfport promotes the creations of local artists twice monthly, on the first Friday and third Saturday of each month. This Art Walk is an all-year-round event and features several bands performing up and down the street with artists showing their wares in front of all the unique stores that stay open extra hours to greet the many visitors. The Casino Ballroom features ballroom dancing every Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday and swings dancing on Wednesday. It also serves as host to many special events and is a wonderful waterfront venue for private affairs such as weddings.
